My job

My current job is looking for a job....  Those of you whom have done this before knows that it's harder than working at a job.  How many hours a day can you look?  Today nobody wants to pay you for the job they are asking you to do.  Too many unemployed out there an employers market.  Sorry, jumped on the soapbox didn't I?  
I get up every morning look at the employment office website for anything new.  Wish they'd force everyone to put a beginning wage offer on the table to be fair to those who are looking (oops, soapboxed again).  iMatchSkills, then on to general jobs in local area.  Alerts arrive on my phone and email from Careerbuilders, Monster and Yahoo (oh, they are merging for those who didn't know) for the latest matching openings.  11 am I received another alert on my phone and email from Careerbuilders as to their latest update.
Then you have the classifieds in the newspaper and Craigslist; make sure you look at other categories also.  After the first week you have everything set up to only look at the last 7 days.  If I stretch it out with my coffee and read a few news updates I've used up at least 2 hours.
Two hours and guess what lots there but nothing is there.  20+ years experience is too much for employers to handle because they know they are paying.


Not to worry I have other things I can do in between the searches.  While working I always thought "Gee if I wasn't working my house would be so clean and organized".  So when is it going to happen?  Merging 3 households into one isn't easy and it's really only 2, the other is for the garage.  I wasn't counting the garage originally.  One house is finally clean and on the market, now what to do with all the stuff that wasn't sold or donated.  I think this is where the ORGANIZING comes into play.  Organize it to where?  That's what they have storage places for.  What size do I need?  If I knew that I'd buy one of the backyard storage buildings.  But, back to organizing.  Organizing my home has always been a challenge for me.  I start organizing but have yet to finish one time in the ump-teenth-million (is this a word?) time I've tried?  At this stage for me it's easier to throw out or donate but I think I'm part hoarder.  Every time I watch the show I start cleaning; but have yet to finish.  I just move my pile from one place to the next and back.  Don't worry I don't need help; I can do it all by myself and do it well.


Today is get your kitchen floor swept and mopped (was supposed to do it Friday, but....) and put Jessica's stuff I'm saving into one new container for the storage place.  One large for two smaller containers and out the door. I'll use the two smaller for something else to send to storage.  Pretty soon we'll have to move and live at the storage place.  I already have my job search completed for the morning (yes, I search two times a day), so now I need to start the house duties.  
Tomorrow I'll let you know if I got any of it done.



The beginning of the story..... sort of

Not sure where to begin so I'll start with the household.


Debbie (Me) - unemployed at 50 something, stressed out and full of anxiety.
Grandma/Dusty (Mom) - Recovering from surgery; stent in the brain to drain fluid.
Jessica (Daughter/Granddaughter)  - 8 years old going on 17 years (I'm in trouble).
Boyfriend (CH) - Starting a new career at 50 something.  On the road again.......
Female Cats (3) - Kali, Sparkle and Princess  Each has us all trained on what their specific preferences and quirks are.  We all are caterers and doorwomen and man.  
Chickens (7) - "The girls or ladies", 4 Leghorns, 2 Rhode Island Reds & 1 Polish Chicken - again very spoiled and great egg producers.  Anyone want to buy some organic eggs?
